Our honest XEX Osaka review — exceptional Italian dining, flawless service, dramatic design, and one of the most memorable restaurant experiences we had.
Some restaurants serve great food. Some restaurants create unforgettable experiences. XEX WEST in Osaka delivered both.
Located atop HERBIS ENT in the heart of Osaka, XEX WEST combines sophisticated Italian dining, stunning design, exceptional service, and an atmosphere that feels worthy of a special occasion every single night.
The venue is known for its expansive luxury setting, featuring the celebrated Salvatore Cuomo Bros. Italian restaurant, an upscale sushi concept, and an elegant lounge and bar — all under one roof.
After weeks of dining throughout Japan, XEX WEST stood out as one of our favorite meals of the entire trip.
Before the first bite even arrived, it was obvious this was somewhere special.
The restaurant feels grand without being pretentious.
You immediately understand why XEX has become one of Osaka's premier dining destinations. Every detail feels intentional.
Whether you are celebrating a milestone, entertaining clients, enjoying a romantic evening, or simply looking for an exceptional meal, XEX creates the right setting.
Great service is often invisible. The best hospitality professionals anticipate needs before you ask.
That was exactly the experience here.
The staff was attentive, professional, warm, and incredibly polished throughout the evening.
Simply put: the service was flawless.
Outstanding.
From the first course to dessert, every dish felt carefully crafted and beautifully executed.
We sampled three different gourmet pizzas, each showcasing what authentic Italian cuisine should be.
These were not ordinary pizzas. They were true gourmet creations worthy of one of Japan's premier Italian dining venues.
The burrata was one of the most memorable dishes of the evening.
Creamy, rich, and beautifully presented, it offered a unique interpretation that elevated an already exceptional ingredient.
Simple ingredients executed perfectly often create the most memorable dishes. This was one of them.
The pasta course demonstrated exactly why great Italian cuisine remains timeless.
Every bite reminded us that the best Italian food relies on exceptional ingredients and expert execution.
Japan is famous for Wagyu. XEX reminded us why.
The beef was incredibly tender, rich, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. It was luxurious without being overwhelming and easily one of the standout dishes of the evening.
Far too often, restaurants finish strong meals with forgettable desserts. Not here.
Tiramisu
Rich. Creamy. Perfectly balanced. One of the better tiramisus we have had anywhere.
Cheesecake
The cheesecake was equally impressive — smooth, indulgent, and executed with the same attention to detail that defined every course before it.
By the time dessert arrived, XEX had already won us over. The final courses simply confirmed it.
The beverage program complemented the meal beautifully. Whether paired with dinner or enjoyed on their own, the drinks elevated the experience and reflected the same commitment to quality found throughout the restaurant.
When evaluating a restaurant, we look at five things:
XEX WEST excelled in every category.
The food was exceptional.
The service was outstanding.
The atmosphere was elegant and energetic.
The execution was flawless.
And most importantly, it created a dining experience we will remember long after returning home.
Japan offers countless incredible restaurants. XEX WEST belongs on that list.
If you are visiting Osaka and looking for a truly special dining experience, make a reservation. You will not regret it.
Exceptional food. Exceptional service. Exceptional atmosphere. One of the best dining experiences of our entire trip to Japan.
