Our honest COTE Las Vegas review: an outstanding waiter, a disappointing birthday dinner, and a second visit that fell short of our nearly perfect first.

By Peters Signature Travel · Published 2026-11-02
We returned to COTE Las Vegas expecting a memorable birthday dinner. Our first visit had been outstanding—almost perfect—and we were excited to experience it again.
This time, our honest rating is 5 out of 10.
Our waiter was outstanding and deserves recognition. But the food, and the lack of anything to make the birthday feel special left us disappointed. What had previously felt exceptional felt just okay on our return.
At Peters Signature Travel, we share the experiences we love. We also believe in being candid when a return visit falls short.
Located at The Venetian Resort, COTE Vegas combines Korean barbecue with the traditions of an American steakhouse, including tableside grilling. It is the kind of dining concept that makes the meal itself part of the evening’s entertainment.

But our reason for returning was personal: our first experience had been so good that we wanted to repeat it for a birthday celebration.
That previous visit set a high standard. We remembered an outstanding meal and left with the feeling that COTE was somewhere worth coming back to.
Unfortunately, our second visit did not deliver the same experience.

The clearest highlight of this visit was our waiter.
He was outstanding, and our disappointment with the overall evening should not overshadow that.

It is possible to appreciate excellent individual service while feeling that the restaurant experience as a whole missed the mark. That is exactly how we felt here.
Our waiter was the strongest part of the evening.
Our first visit to COTE Las Vegas had left us thoroughly impressed. On this return, the food simply did not create the same reaction.

Our honest assessment: just okay.
That is a disappointing thing to write about a restaurant we had previously enjoyed so much. We wanted to love this dinner. We arrived with a positive impression and every reason to expect another excellent meal.

Instead, we left feeling that the food experience had fallen well below the standard of our first visit.

Maybe our expectations were too high. But those expectations came from what COTE had already delivered.

We chose this return visit for a birthday celebration, which made the lack of a celebratory touch particularly disappointing.
During our visit, nothing was done to make the occasion feel special.
For us, a thoughtful acknowledgment is part of what can make a celebration dinner memorable. Its absence contributed to the feeling that this evening was well below expectations.
Our experience does not establish what every guest should expect for a birthday at COTE. It does explain why our birthday visit left us underwhelmed.
After our first dinner, we would have enthusiastically said yes. After our second, we are much less convinced.
One disappointing visit does not erase an outstanding one. Equally, an outstanding first visit does not change how we felt about the return.
With so many restaurants to explore in Las Vegas, we probably would not choose COTE for a third visit. Our second experience did not give us a strong reason to return. For other ideas, see our four-night Las Vegas itinerary and our Swingers Las Vegas review.

An outstanding waiter. Food that felt just okay compared with an almost perfect first visit. And a birthday celebration that did not feel special.
We know how good COTE Las Vegas can be because we experienced it ourselves. This time, it fell short.
This review reflects Peters Signature Travel’s personal experience across two visits. Our 5/10 rating applies to the second visit.
